Curtain Rod

While I was welding up the light for my entryway, I also made curtain rod holders. I got the curtain rod from my parents garage, they think it was in their house when they bought it. I did not have a way to hang it so I welded up this.

Entryway Light

The did not have a light when I bought the house. It does have a switched electrical outlet up about 8 feet up and a hole in the ceiling where a light used to hang. I constructed a wall light.

Basically, I welded to pieces of angle steel and a piece of plexiglass. I wired three lights and a plug together so it could be plugged in.

Hinges

If there is one detail in a house that is (almost) always over looked its door hinges espicely old one that get painted over and get painted over. Some have very nice detail that gets lost under all that paint. An angle grinder with a wire wheel and some spray paint.

Most of the older hinges where brass plated. most of it will be lost getting the paint off with a wire wheel. I did not use a chemical paint remover but that may keep the brass platting on but would probly damage the finish.

Painting them also means that will all have the same finish.

Oh... So Far Behind.

So in buying a house you lose so much time to everything else. So much wiring to fix and plumbing to get up to this century (we are 13 years into it). The new studio space is workable and once the weather breaks I can get it to were i want it. But the thing that bothers me is how is it with for wall mounted lights none of them are the same. I don't know what to do with them. I can't really do a cool door way with one on each side... They don't match.
