They Don't Make Cars...

I'm not the biggest fan of new cars mostly because nobody is making anything terribly iconic. The most iconic thing on cars is (was) the hood ornament. The "Leaping Jaguar," the Mercedes Benz three point star, or the Big Horn Ram that used to be on Dodge trucks all great icons that helped to define the car. They pop off the hood of the car and say "I am a Dodge, and I am strong and tough," or "I am fast, sleek, and fierce. I am a Jag."

That is gone now... I'm sure there are reasons.

Oh Right, I made my own.

I'll let it get some weather on it and then clear coat it.
In the short run when the gasket maker sets that will all get cleaned up.
Also go here to check out some great images of classic hood ornaments, when chrome ruled.

How Things Work

This a great explanation of how a differential works. Produced by Chevrolet in the 1930's back, you know when they could build cars. Why is it that we have to go back to the 30's to get really good and simple explanations of how (mechanical) things work?

And on a related note Physicist Richard Feynman explains how a train stays on the tracks and makes turns with out a differential.

SCIENCE!

It Worked!

Some how I got a piece of 3/4 plywood, piece of 1/2 plywood, aluminum channel and a handful of clamps to function as a bench break.

It's not a perfict fold but after I bolt, rivet, weld and what ever else I do to it it will look good.
It may need some time with the rubber mallet.

When I'm done the tailgate of my old truck will be a nice bench.
